Casa Mono Coco

The bedroom is reached by a wrought iron spiral staircase leading to the upstairs. Casa Mono Coco is air-conditioned for your comfort and has many glass doors through which the jungle view is maintained sans insects. To the rear a new patio and veranda has just been constructed for outdoor enjoyment.

The jungle patio has become the bottom floor of an upstairs addition where there is presently now a huge teak and almond wood veranda that is reached through sliding glass doors upstairs or a small ladder downstairs. From this veranda one has a unique view of the rainforest. The grounds are immaculately landscaped and well maintained by our young gardner, Alex, who is studying to be a nature guide. The interior of Casa Mono Coco is kept in perfect condition by Sadye.

Monkeys live in the treetops and sometimes are on the roof or are watching you swim from over the pool area and sloths slowly climb the trees about the gardens searching out their favorite food leaves. On the grounds you will find Coco Palms and other trees with edible fruit ripe for the blender, Ferns, Bromeliads and Orchids. When it rains the area abounds with the sounds of Costa Rica's famed tree frogs.

The large green ones can then be seen swimming about the children's pool and the tiny Green and Black Poison Dart Frogs who live on the leaves and branches of the garden plants come out of hiding. At night male fireflies search the area for their female counterparts who are actually the "glow-worms" on the ground flashing signals to the males flying about.

The garden area abounds with a variety of native wildlife such as Capuchin Monkeys, Congo Monkeys, Black Iguanas sunning in unexpected places, Two and Three Toed Sloths, and enormously mysterious butterflies where the male and the female are entirely unalike. Swimming at night in Casa Mono Coco's pool yields a star-studded sky unlike that known in North America.

A trip to the river at Jardin Pochote for a refreshing swim complimented by ribs from Casa Casuelda afterwards will tickle your taste buds with local roasted pig and fresh Costa Rican beer. On a clear night view a variety of new constellations and see the full moon from a very different perspective.
